Lawrenta Uloko Apaume, a student of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, who was killed by a stray bullet from a vigilante 24 hours after her final examination was laid to rest in her hometown on Tuesday.
Apaume, a Higher National Diploma student of Banking and Finance, had joined other graduating students at a party to celebrate the completion of their academic programme at a private hostel on Iyekhei Grammar School Road last Friday evening.

Tragedy struck when one of the vigilantes lowered his gun to know why it failed to discharge a bullet after he fired in the air. A bullet released in the process and hit Lawrenta.
"The vigilante was lowering the gun to know why it failed to discharge a bullet after he fired. In the process, the bullet released itself without pulling the trigger and accidentally killed the girl who was among the celebrators.” said a student eyewitness.
